African credit rating initiatives aim to reduce borrowing costs
African leaders and financial institutions are focusing on improving the continent's creditworthiness and financial autonomy. Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has expressed support for the upcoming launch of the African Credit Rating Agency in Mauritius. She noted that the initiative is a vital step toward reducing borrowing costs, expanding access to finance, and reforming the global financial architecture to allow African nations more ownership over their development agendas.
In Nigeria, DataPro Limited is organizing an international webinar titled ‘Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment-Grade Status’. The event aims to bring together policymakers and economists to discuss how African economies can achieve and maintain investment-grade sovereign credit status. Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address, focusing on the reforms necessary to strengthen fiscal management and investor confidence across the continent.
