African Democratic Congress demands action on political violence ahead of 2027 elections
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Nigerian federal government to address rising political violence and voter intimidation ahead of the 2027 general elections. Party National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi reported documented incidents between July 2025 and September 2026, including attacks on opposition meetings, destruction of property, and assaults on participants in states such as Kaduna, Kebbi, Ekiti, Rivers, and Kogi.
Abdulahi urged the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration to ensure citizens can exercise their political rights without fear. He emphasized that the government and police must protect the constitutional right of all registered parties to organize and campaign openly.
In Katsina State, the ADC organized special prayer sessions to seek national protection against corruption, banditry, kidnapping, and poverty. The event, held by the party’s State House of Assembly Aspirants/Candidates Forum, included Islamic scholars and aimed to support the party’s candidates ahead of the upcoming polls.
