African Democratic Congress rejects Tinubu endorsement in Jigawa

The Jigawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected an endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. The endorsement was issued by over 500 Islamic scholars, clerics, and preachers during a gathering in Dutse.

The ADC described the endorsement as ‘unfortunate’ and cautioned religious leaders against allowing political interests to compromise their moral authority. The party stated that while individual clerics may make political choices, they should not present such decisions as religious verdicts or as representative of the Muslim community.

Additionally, the ADC challenged the administration’s claims regarding infrastructure and security. The party contested the assertion that the Tinubu administration initiated the Kano-Dutse/Kano-Maradi railway project, stating it was approved and awarded in 2021 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. The party also disputed claims of improved security in the North-West, citing ongoing kidnappings and terrorist attacks in Kaduna, Sokoto, and Zamfara states as evidence of a continuing crisis.
