African energy and mining sectors to host major 2026 forums

Major industry events are scheduled for 2026 to address Africa’s energy and mining sectors. African Energy Week (AEW) will take place in Cape Town from October 12–16, serving as a commercial marketplace for governments, companies, and financiers to negotiate deals and advance energy projects.

The event expects over 9,000 delegates from more than 100 countries and features structured business matchmaking, live deal signings, and closed-door meetings. Previous editions have resulted in agreements regarding project finance, hydrogen development, and partnerships with national oil companies.

Separately, the African Minerals Policy Forum – Mining in Motion (AMPF–MiM) 2026 will be held in Accra, Ghana, from October 19 to 21. This forum aims to strengthen regional cooperation and promote sustainable growth in the mining sector through policy alignment and public-private partnerships.

Key participating organizations include the Ghana Chamber of Mines, the ECOWAS Federation of Chambers of Mines, the Chambre des Mines du Sénégal, and the Mining Industry Association of Southern Africa. Discussions will focus on rebuilding trust between industry and communities, empowering artisanal and small-scale mining, and developing regional infrastructure corridors.
