African fashion stores and Lagos style stars highlighted globally
The Business of Fashion released its first list of the Best Fashion Stores in the World, naming four independent African retailers for their curated luxury offerings. The highlighted stores are Alára Lagos in Nigeria, founded by Reni Folawiyo; Temple Muse Lagos, also in Nigeria, founded by Avinash and Kabir Wadhwani; Maison 69 in Cairo, Egypt, founded by Amir Fayo; and ABY Concept Store in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, founded by Cécile Fakhoury.
In Lagos, the fashion scene continued to draw attention during the high‑profile traditional wedding JP2026 of Nigerian creators Hamzat "Peller" Adelaja and Amadou "Jarvis" Aminata. The event showcased elaborate looks from local stars such as Rita Dominic in a royal‑blue Yutee Rone gown and Iyabo Ojo in a richly embellished burgundy dress, underscoring Lagos’s status as a leading African fashion capital.
