African football: CAN 2027 qualifying schedules and coaching updates

The schedule for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers has been established, impacting several national teams. Togo is set to play two matches in September 2026: a home game against Burundi at the Kégué Stadium in Lomé on September 25, followed by an away match against Zambia at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on September 29.

Meanwhile, the Algerian national team faces uncertainty as they prepare for their own qualifying campaign against Zambia, Burundi, and Togo. Following the departure of former coach Vladimir Petkovic, Algeria has yet to officially appoint a successor to lead the team. Reports suggest Antar Yahia may be involved in preparing the initial player list as the federation seeks to rebuild the squad.
