African football federations reshuffle coaches after 2026 World Cup

Following the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, several African national football teams announced major changes to their coaching staff. South Africa's federation confirmed the departure of Hugo Broos after a historic World Cup appearance. Cape Verde's Pedro Leitao Brito, known as “Bubista,” also left his post after guiding the team to the round of 16. Morocco replaced Walid Regragui with the former U‑20 world champion Mohamed Ouahbi. Senegal dismissed Pape Thiaw after a round‑of‑16 exit, and Ivory Coast terminated Emerse Faé, appointing former AFCON winner Hervé Renard as his successor. The wave of dismissals reflects each federation’s ambition to reset and prepare for the next competition cycle.
