African journalists launch regional network to combat malaria
Journalists and media professionals from six African nations—including the Republic of Congo, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, and Sierra Leone—have launched the Francophone Alliance of Media and Journalists Against Malaria in Africa (AFRIMPA).
Launched in Brazzaville, the regional network aims to strengthen in-depth reporting on malaria by addressing issues of financing, accountability, and innovation. The initiative is led by Impact Santé Afrique (ISA), which serves as the secretariat, with support from the RBM Partnership to End Malaria, the Global Fund, Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), and the World Health Organization’s African region.
Professor Jean-Rosaire Ibara, the Minister of Health and Population of the Republic of Congo, opened the launch, emphasizing the importance of well-informed communities in the effort to move African countries toward malaria elimination.
