African leaders advocate for economic independence and self-reliance

In Ghana, presidential staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has called for a renewal of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision regarding economic independence and Pan-African unity. Speaking at an event in Accra, Jantuah argued that while Ghana achieved political freedom, the nation remains dependent on foreign influence and international financial institutions for economic policy. She advocated for a long-term national development plan to replace shifting political manifestos and emphasized the importance of industrialization and African-led institutions.

In Malawi, Vice-President Jane Ansah has urged citizens to strive for self-reliance and sustainability. During a visit to the Nkhotakota District, Ansah distributed essential supplies, including maize, blankets, and bicycles, to vulnerable groups through the Jane Ansah Foundation. The initiative aims to support marginalized communities, such as the elderly and those affected by recent floods, by encouraging the formation of cooperatives and providing agricultural assistance like seeds and fertilizer.
