African leaders call for sustainability and climate funding action
The African CEO Council and participants at the Africa Climate Forum are urging business leaders and governments to transition from sustainability pledges to measurable actions. The African CEO Council has called on executives to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) leadership into core business strategies to improve competitiveness, access to finance, and supply-chain resilience.
At the Africa Climate Forum, speakers emphasized the need to close the climate funding gap through public-private partnerships, stronger policies, and increased private investment. Discussions focused on climate-resilient infrastructure, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture. Experts also highlighted the importance of carbon market regulation, particularly in Nigeria, to convert emissions reductions into certified carbon credits.
