African leaders call on religious institutions to drive national development and unity

In Kenya, President William Ruto has urged religious organizations to assist in shaping the nation’s long-term development strategy beyond the Vision 2030 framework. Speaking at the African Brotherhood Church (ABC) Women of Faith Congress in Machakos, Ruto emphasized that faith-based groups possess significant community influence and should act as strategic partners in national transformation, education, and community development. He also noted ongoing government collaboration with the ABC regarding the expansion of Eastern Kenya Integrated University.

In Malawi, UTM president Dalitso Kabambe has called on religious leaders to foster national unity and promote moral leadership. Addressing the 40th General Assembly of the CCAP Livingstonia Synod in Kasungu, Kabambe expressed concern over social disunity and urged the Church to help Malawians work together toward meaningful development. He advocated for a separation of prayer, politics, and national events to prevent partisan divisions within places of worship.
