African leaders meet with UN and AfDB representatives
In Burkina Faso, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo met with Haoliang Xu, the UN Under-Secretary-General and Associate Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The discussions focused on the Plan RELANCE, Burkina Faso’s new development framework. Xu expressed support for the plan, noting its clear objectives and the country’s emphasis on mobilizing domestic resources, estimating that approximately 65% of the plan's financing needs could be met through local resources.
In Burundi, Prime Minister Nestor Ntahontuye held meetings with Diawara Mouna, the country representative for the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the Apostolic Nuncio. The AfDB representative discussed the bank's ongoing involvement in Burundi's infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and water sectors. The meeting also addressed the upcoming 2026-2028 financing cycle and the implementation of current strategic investments.
