African Mining Week 2026 attracts international partners and state mining firms

The African Mining Week (AMW) 2026, scheduled for October 14–16 in Cape Town, South Africa, has secured the International Trade Council (ITC) as a partner. The ITC aims to facilitate connections between African natural resources and the global business community, focusing on investment, infrastructure, and technology.

During the event’s National Mining Companies Forum, state-owned enterprises from Malawi, Kenya, and Eswatini will present investment priorities. Malawi Mining Investment Company (MAMICO) is seeking to develop projects involving gold, graphite, and rare earths, supported by a government and World Bank roadmap projecting up to $30 billion in mineral exports by 2040.

Kenya’s National Mining Corporation (NAMICO) will also participate as the country seeks to increase mining’s contribution to its GDP to 10% by 2030, focusing on copper, chromite, and strategic minerals through expanded domestic processing and beneficiation.
