African music spotlight: Fatoumata Diawara and Aïta Senghor
Malian Grammy-nominated singer Fatoumata Diawara is set to perform at the Olympia in Paris on November 25 as part of her European tour. Her latest album, Massa, released on June 5, 2026, explores themes of maternity, faith, and resilience through a blend of Wassoulou traditions with pop and electronic influences.
In Senegal, rising artist Aïta Senghor is gaining international recognition following the release of her single, ‘O Seereer’. A singer-songwriter with a Serer voice, Senghor has performed in England and Kenya. She has received artistic mentorship from Baaba Maal following her performance in Mombasa, which led to an invitation to his Festival du Blues du Fleuve.
