African nations advance funding initiatives for creative sectors

African governments are implementing various financial initiatives to bolster their respective creative sectors. In Ghana, commentator Nana Frimpong Zigah has praised the administration for its efforts to support veteran creatives. The government has introduced measures such as the Creative Arts Fund and the Film Development Fund to provide financial assistance to industry stakeholders and improve infrastructure.

In Botswana, Minister of Sports and Arts Jacob Kelebeng announced that a P200 million creative sector fund is nearing rollout. Speaking at the 14th Botswana Music Awards, Kelebeng emphasized that the fund aims to help artists transition from entertainers to entrepreneurs, providing the necessary capital for equipment, production, and business expansion to drive national economic development.
