African nations strengthen diplomatic and judicial coordination

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner and Minister of Justice Guillaume Ngefa Atondoko met in Kinshasa to strengthen judicial and diplomatic coordination. The discussions focused on improving how the two ministries collaborate on legal and diplomatic files involving the DRC abroad, specifically regarding the monitoring of litigation and judicial procedures in international jurisdictions. The ministers agreed to harmonize strategies and establish periodic exchanges to better defend Congolese interests and support candidacies within international organizations.

In Gabon, Foreign Minister Marie-Édith Tassyla-Ye-Doumbeneny received a joint engagement agreement regarding a border dispute with Equatorial Guinea. Signed in Addis Ababa during an African Union session, the agreement aims to implement a May 2025 ruling by the International Court of Justice concerning the delimitation of land and maritime sovereignty over the Mbanié, Conga, and Cocotiers islands. The Gabonese government emphasized that the agreement establishes a practical working method for the progressive implementation of the ruling under the auspices of the African Union and does not constitute a renunciation of Gabonese territory.
