African Science Ministries Advance Agricultural Research and Constitutional Review Initiatives
Gabon’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Charles Edgard Mombo, inspected the experimental soy, rice, maize, bean and peanut plots at the national seed‑production centre in Kougouleu. He highlighted the country’s fertile soils and the project’s role in supporting the government’s food‑self‑sufficiency goals, praising the researchers and noting ongoing pest challenges.
The Democratic Republic of Congo’s Ministry of Higher Education, University, Scientific Research and Innovation announced a national scientific colloquium to be held June 10‑12 in Kinshasa, Kisangani and Lubumbashi. The three‑day event will evaluate the 2006 constitution, gathering university leaders, researchers and advanced‑level students to produce a scientific diagnosis, identify strengths and limits, and formulate recommendations for democratic governance and sustainable development.
