African Swine Fever outbreak detected in Podlaskie, Poland

The Chief Veterinary Inspectorate has confirmed the tenth outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in domestic pig herds in Poland for 2026. The latest case was detected in a farm in Półkoty, located in the Sejny municipality of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, approximately 3.5 km from the Lithuanian border.

In response to the infection, authorities have ordered the culling and disposal of 550 pigs from the affected farm. Veterinary services have initiated containment procedures, including the disposal of feed and straw, as well as the cleaning and disinfection of the premises.

Regulatory zones have been established around the farm, including a 10 km radius for protection and danger zones. Additionally, the European Commission will implement a III-level restriction zone (red zone) in the surrounding areas. These restrictions may remain in place until late December or early January, provided no further infections occur.
