African Union calls for accelerated financial inclusion for women

During the second eGumeni dialogue held in Addis Ababa, the African Union (AU) emphasized the necessity of accelerating the economic and financial inclusion of women to achieve the continent's growth ambitions. Selma Malika Haddadi, Vice-President of the AU Commission, stated that women's empowerment is both a social justice issue and a strategic economic priority required to transform African economies.

As part of the discussions, Tunisia was recognized as one of seven African nations distinguished by the AU for advancements in economic inclusion for women and youth. The recognition highlights the success of Tunisia's national 'Raïdet' program, which has supported female entrepreneurship and facilitated access to financing, contributing to the creation of over 10,000 jobs.

The AU leadership urged stronger political commitment and better coordination of initiatives to translate institutional frameworks, such as Agenda 2063 and the Maputo Protocol, into concrete economic results for women across the continent.
