African Union targets $100bn for women’s economic inclusion

The African Union has launched the second Egumeni Dialogue in Addis Ababa, a high-level meeting aimed at unlocking $100 billion in economic opportunities for at least 10 million African women and youth by 2030.

More than 250 participants, including ministers, financial regulators, and entrepreneurs, are gathered to discuss removing systemic barriers to socio-economic participation. Speakers at the dialogue highlighted the need to address structural obstacles such as limited access to finance, land, technology, and markets.

Representatives from Ghana and Mozambique emphasized that genuine empowerment requires more than just access; it necessitates guaranteed skills training, social protection, and meaningful roles in decision-making processes to ensure women are not left on the margins of the continent's economy.
