African Universities Honor Leaders in Togo and Burkina Faso

Prénam Houzou‑Mouzou, president of the University of Kara in Togo, was elevated to Officer of the International Order of Academic Palms (OIPA) of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES). The award was presented on 31 July 2026 in Djibloho, Equatorial Guinea, during the council’s 48th session, and she was also appointed to the OIPA council, recognizing her role in university governance and research development.

In Burkina Faso, Minister of Higher Education Adjima Thiombiano announced on 3 August 2026 the normalization of academic years at the University Nazi‑Boni de Bobo‑Dioulasso, ending years of overlapping schedules. He praised the achievement, stating, “La normalisation des années académiques était l’un des défis majeurs de notre département,” and urged continued reforms to improve learning conditions and graduate competencies.
