Afrim Gashi discusses Law on Fair and Adequate Representation

Speaker of the Assembly Afrim Gashi has addressed the status of the Law on Fair and Adequate Representation, stating that the legislation has not been withdrawn from the parliamentary agenda. Gashi noted that while the law is well-prepared and has passed international filters, there is uncertainty regarding whether the necessary numbers exist to pass it in the Assembly.

Gashi emphasized the importance of political dialogue and consultation with deputies to find a solution and determine the political space available for implementation. He suggested that if the law encounters issues or fails to produce desired results, it can be modified or amended in the future.

Additionally, Gashi expressed support for holding parliamentary elections within the regular timeframe, warning that continuous discussions regarding early elections create uncertainty for citizens and negatively impact the economy. He noted that early elections would require the vote of at least 61 deputies.
