Afrim Gashi expresses confidence that early elections will not occur
Afrim Gashi, President of the Assembly, stated during a Monday briefing that he is convinced early parliamentary elections will not take place, citing his ‘political intuition’ as the basis for this belief.
During a coordination meeting with parliamentary group leaders, the issue of the Electoral Code was raised by a representative from Levica. Gashi indicated that if there is readiness, the Assembly's working group and coordinators should continue discussions regarding the code.
Regarding the law on fair representation, which is currently stalled due to blockades by Bataveter and DUI, Gashi noted that communication with leaders is ongoing, though he denied that DUI leader Ali Ahmeti was part of those discussions.
Other parliamentary updates include an upcoming Foreign Policy Committee session for new ambassadors to present priorities, and a request to review the absence of certain ministers from sessions intended for opposition and parliamentary questions. Additionally, a request was made to reschedule the parliamentary question session because Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24.
