Afro-Brazilian percussion and music events scheduled in Brazil

Various cultural events celebrating Afro-Brazilian rhythms and traditions are scheduled across Brazil. In Salvador, the Flow de Odé event debuts on October 29 at the Xangô Jazz Club in Pelourinho. The performance features the Bahia-based collective Negros Tambores, which blends afropop, samba, and axé, alongside DJ Badoog, a researcher of Afro-diasporic music.

In Florianópolis, the Roda de Timbau Floripa project concludes on October 24 with a workshop led by percussionist and educator Lenynha Oliveira. Drawing on over 28 years of experience with Salvador’s Afro blocks, Oliveira will lead a session focused on timbau techniques and Afro-Brazilian percussive traditions as part of the Projeto Tea.
