Karacasu Afrodisias Culture and Art Festival begins in Aydın
The 37th Karacasu Afrodisias Culture, Art and Promotion Festival has officially commenced in Karacasu, Aydın. The five-day event aims to promote the region's historical and cultural heritage, specifically highlighting the ancient city of Afrodisias, known for its history in architecture, sculpture, and art.
The festival opening featured a parade accompanied by traditional mehter music, highlighted by a massive 14.70-meter long pide (Turkish flatbread) carried on shoulders. Local officials, including District Governor İsmail Battal and Mayor Mustafa Büyükyapıcı, participated in various cultural activities.
Key activities include demonstrations of local crafts such as pottery using unique red clay, as well as celebrating long-standing traditions like the 744th Dedebağ Hayrı. The festival is scheduled to conclude in conjunction with the August 30 Victory Day celebrations.
