Afroditi Latinopoulou reports verbal attack at Tinos port
Afroditi Latinopoulou, president of the Voice of Logic party and a Member of the European Parliament, reported a verbal confrontation with a group of Roma individuals at the port of Tinos. Latinopoulou stated she was visiting the island for a pilgrimage with her mother when a group of approximately 15 to 30 people approached them.
The incident reportedly began when members of the group challenged her views regarding the Roma community. Latinopoulou maintained that her comments target criminal behavior, such as theft and the marriage of minors, rather than the entire community. This led to a 45-minute escalation involving verbal abuse, insults, and threats. Latinopoulou claimed one individual attempted to physically strike her before being restrained by others.
Latinopoulou criticized the response of the Coast Guard, noting that officers arrived but only advised the parties to stop arguing before leaving. She also used the incident to launch a political critique against the New Democracy government and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, alleging that the current administration allows for lawlessness and provides a level of impunity for certain groups.
