Afterglow app brings classic After Dark screensavers to macOS

Developer Jeff Halter has released Afterglow, a new application that allows users to run classic 1990s After Dark screensavers on modern macOS versions.

Afterglow functions as an emulator specifically designed to run original 68k module code from After Dark without requiring dependencies on ROMs or the classic Mac OS. The app enables users to experience nostalgic modules such as ‘Flying Toasters’, ‘Mowing Man’, ‘Boris the Cat’, and ‘Bad Dog’.

Users can provide their own original After Dark files or use the app to browse the Internet Archive to download them directly. Once the files are selected in the app settings, the classic screensavers can be installed and run on current macOS systems.
