AfterQuery reaches $3.2 billion valuation, becoming Y Combinator's fastest unicorn

AfterQuery, an AI data startup founded in early 2025, has reached a $3.2 billion valuation, making it the fastest company in Y Combinator history to achieve unicorn status. The company’s valuation increased more than tenfold in just five months, rising from $300 million in April 2026 to its current figure.

The company specializes in providing human-curated training datasets and reinforcement learning environments for artificial intelligence laboratories. To differentiate its service from standard web-scraped data, AfterQuery utilizes a network of approximately 100,000 professionals, including doctors, lawyers, engineers, and financial analysts, to generate high-quality, nuanced data.

AfterQuery’s client base includes major AI developers such as OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Microsoft AI, and Nvidia. Co-founders Spencer Mateega and Carlos Georgescu launched the venture after pivoting from an original concept for an AI financial agent. The company has reported rapid revenue growth, with annual recurring revenue climbing from $100 million in April 2026 to hundreds of millions by July.
