Afya medical students attend ultrasound workshop at HCP
Medical students from Afya participated in a workshop focused on the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for managing patients in urgent and emergency situations at the Hospital de Câncer de Pernambuco (HCP).
Led by Dr. Ingrid Cavalcanti, the training emphasized ultrasound as a non-invasive tool for real-time clinical decision-making. The workshop covered practical applications such as identifying internal hemorrhages, cardiac alterations, acute abdominal conditions, venous thrombosis, and pulmonary changes. Additionally, the session addressed the use of ultrasound for oncological emergency procedures, including diagnostic paracentesis, thoracentesis, and central venous access punctures.
