Afyon Courts Deliver Sentences in Terror‑Related and Murder Cases

In Afyonkarahisar, the 2nd Heavy Penal Court issued decisions on a series of FETÖ‑related cases. Out of 32 files, 11 were resolved: six defendants were acquitted, one case was dismissed for lack of evidence, and the remaining defendants received prison terms ranging from 1 year 6 months to 6 years 3 months. Two defendants remain wanted.

Separately, the 1st Heavy Penal Court in Afyon concluded the trial for a violent incident in the Sandıklı district that left one person dead and another injured. Six suspects were tried; four were acquitted, while two were convicted. One defendant was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months imprisonment plus a fine of 25,000 TL, and another received 4 years and 2 months imprisonment with the same fine. The verdicts were delivered after multiple hearings and the families of the victim expressed continued grief and a demand for justice.
