Afyonkarahisar egg producers monitor Grain Corridor for raw materials

Egg producers in Afyonkarahisar, a city responsible for approximately 25% of Turkey's egg production, are closely monitoring the Grain Corridor to ensure the steady supply of essential raw materials. Mehmet Kumartaşlı, a member of the Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) Egg Producers Professional Committee, noted that while production continues at European standards, the sector faces a significant surplus in supply following capacity increases related to previous avian influenza cases.

To address this surplus, producers aim to increase exports. However, the industry remains heavily dependent on imports for key feed ingredients, specifically barley, wheat, and soybeans. Producers are looking to the continued smooth operation of the Grain Corridor and ongoing support from the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) regarding corn to maintain stability in the sector.
