Afyonkarahisar hosts Zero Waste and Climate Change workshop
The Zero Waste Workshop, themed ‘Waste, Waste, and Resource Management from Local to National,’ was held in Afyonkarahisar to promote efficient resource use, prevent waste, and strengthen waste management. The event is part of a series of ‘Turkey Zero Waste, Environment, and Climate Change Workshops’ planned by the Zero Waste Foundation across 81 provinces.
Approximately 352 participants representing 131 institutions and organizations attended the workshop. Participants were organized into 18 thematic tables to discuss concrete proposals regarding waste prevention and effective resource utilization.
Afyonkarahisar Deputy Governor Dr. Atıf Çiçekli addressed the assembly, noting that the surge in production and consumption capacities over the last 200 years has altered the balance between humanity and nature. He emphasized that addressing climate change and environmental pollution requires a fundamental reassessment of production methods, consumption habits, and resource culture.
