Afyonkarahisar municipal officer suspended after assaulting disabled vendor

A municipal police officer in Afyonkarahisar has been suspended following an assault on a disabled street vendor. The incident occurred on Bankalar Street when municipal officers approached Hüseyin S., a mentally disabled man selling cotton candy, to warn him against street vending.

Video footage captured by bystanders shows a physical altercation between the officer and the vendor. During the scuffle, the officer reportedly struck Hüseyin S. with punches, kicks, and a water bottle aimed at his neck. Local citizens and shopkeepers intervened to stop the violence and assist the vendor.

Following the public outcry after the footage was shared on social media, the Afyonkarahisar Municipality launched an administrative investigation. The officer involved has been removed from duty pending the results of the inquiry.
