AG-53 highway closed after bus fire spreads to forest in Ourense

A bus carrying 63 passengers from Valladolid caught fire on the AG-53 highway in the province of Ourense, Spain. The incident occurred near the parish of San Martiño de Lamas in San Cristovo de Cea. The driver managed to pull the vehicle to the shoulder to allow all passengers to disembark safely, preventing any injuries.

The bus was completely destroyed by the flames, which subsequently spread to the surrounding forest. Emergency services, including the Xunta's rural department, deployed multiple brigades, helicopters, and planes to combat the resulting forest fire. The fire was reported stabilized by 18:30 local time.

As a result of the incident, the AG-53 highway was closed in the direction of Ourense between kilometers 65 and 73. Traffic authorities established detours via the N-525 toward O Carballiño to manage the disruption.
