Agadir police shoot suspect during car theft intervention

A police inspector from the motorcycle unit of the Agadir security prefecture used his service weapon during an intervention on Sunday, August 16. The incident occurred following reports that three individuals were stealing items from three parked cars near the central market and causing property damage.

During the attempt to apprehend the suspects, a 24-year-old individual with a criminal record reportedly resisted violently using a knife, posing a serious threat to the safety of both the public and the officers. After firing warning shots, the officer shot the suspect in the lower limbs to neutralize the threat.

The suspect was taken to a regional hospital for medical supervision, and the knife used in the attack was seized. An investigation is currently underway under the supervision of the public prosecutor to determine the full circumstances of the crime and to locate the remaining accomplices.
