Agadir security launches eighth regional explosives squad in Morocco

The General Directorate of National Security has officially launched the Regional Explosives Squad in Agadir. This unit marks the eighth specialized explosives squad established within Morocco, following similar units in Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Tangier, Oujda, Marrakech, and Laayoune.

The new squad is equipped with advanced technical resources, including a remote-controlled robot for bomb disposal, protective vests, and specialized dismantling tools. Logistics support includes dedicated vehicles for transporting and storing explosive-handling equipment, as well as administrative and personnel transport vehicles.

Personnel assigned to the unit underwent a two-stage training program supervised by the Central Explosives Service. The training covered fundamental principles of explosives handling and practical application of specialized equipment under various scenarios.

The squad's primary responsibilities include proactive scanning and monitoring of major sporting, artistic, and social events to mitigate risks. Additionally, the unit will handle suspicious objects and provide technical expertise for judicial investigations and the analysis of explosive materials.
