AGAP commits resources to El Niño preparations in Peru

The Association of Agricultural Producer Guilds of Peru (AGAP) has committed significant resources to support government preparations for the El Niño phenomenon (FEN). Following a meeting with the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Marco Vinelli, AGAP announced it is the first guild to offer a donation to mitigate the climate event.

Specifically, the guild will donate 8 million soles in fuel to facilitate national riverbed cleaning operations. Additionally, AGAP president Gabriel Amaro stated that members will allocate 100 million soles for the reconstruction of canals, infrastructure, and drain cleaning through the ‘works for taxes’ modality.

Minister Vinelli welcomed the commitment and called upon other private sector entities to join the preparation efforts. AGAP representatives expressed their support for the Ministry's strategies, particularly those aimed at integrating agricultural producers into the labor market and simplifying investment procedures.
