Agastya Energy announces ₹7,800 crore solar manufacturing expansion in Andhra Pradesh
Agastya Green Energy Limited, a division of the Anubhav Agarwal Group (AAG), has announced a ₹7,800 crore expansion into integrated solar ingot and wafer manufacturing. The new facility, located in the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, aims to establish 12 GW of ingot capacity and 12 GW of wafer capacity.
This upstream expansion is designed to complement the company’s existing and planned solar cell and module operations. The project is expected to create more than 3,500 jobs and aims to strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities while reducing import dependence.
The investment represents a significant diversification for the Anubhav Agarwal Group, whose flagship company, BN Group, is an established edible oil manufacturer. Anubhav Agarwal, Chairman of AAG, stated that the investment reflects a long-term conviction in India’s energy transition and a commitment to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities.
