Agatha Christie legacy celebrated through exhibition and new series
A new exhibition at the Royal Berkshire Archives in Reading explores the life and legacy of crime novelist Agatha Christie. The display marks 100 years since her 1926 disappearance, during which she went missing from her Sunningdale home for 11 days. The exhibition features archival documents, including a surviving missing persons poster, alongside memorabilia from collector Gale Goddard. It also highlights Christie’s work as a nurse during the First World War and her archaeological expeditions.
In media, a new BritBox original series, ‘Agatha Christie’s Tommy and Tuppence’, is set to modernize the adventures of the author’s long-running characters. The series follows the reunion of childhood friends Tommy Beresford and Tuppence Cowley, who become amateur investigators after a murder at a wedding. The production aims to blend modern romance with the classic mystery style established by Christie.
