AGECO and SBD launch seed capital fund for entrepreneurs over 45
The Asociación Gerontológica Costarricense (AGECO) and the Sistema de Banca para el Desarrollo (SBD) have launched the second edition of the “Fondo Impulsando mi Idea Productiva y Fortalecimiento de la Empresariedad Mayor” contest.
The initiative targets entrepreneurs aged 45 and older who have existing businesses and wish to strengthen them. Approximately 25 entrepreneurs from various regions of Costa Rica are expected to be selected. Successful applicants can receive non-reimbursable seed capital of up to ₡4 million, along with business training and accompaniment through the AGEMPRENDE incubator.
To maintain eligibility for the non-reimbursable funds, beneficiaries must use the resources according to an approved investment plan, present corresponding invoicing, and keep their productive activities operational. The capital is intended for business formalization, technical and commercial validation, working capital, and the acquisition of productive assets. Funds cannot be used for debt repayment, taxes, rent, salaries, or the purchase of real estate or vehicles.
