Aged Care Association announces 2026 Excellence in Care finalists

The Aged Care Association has announced the finalists for the 2026 ACA | EBOS Excellence in Care Awards. Fifteen finalists from across New Zealand have been selected across seven categories, highlighting achievements in leadership, innovation, design, sustainability, and service.

Notable achievements among the finalists include an 85% reduction in pressure injuries, resident-led sustainability projects, and the implementation of technology designed to provide people living with dementia greater freedom. The awards aim to showcase high-quality work within care homes and challenge outdated perceptions of the sector.

Aged Care Association Chief Executive Hon Tracey Martin noted that while the industry faces pressures such as workforce shortages and funding needs, these awards highlight how aged care supports older people in maintaining their independence, dignity, and community connections.
