Agence Française de Développement funds projects in Angola and Philippines
The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is implementing diverse development programs in Angola and the Philippines, focusing on digital modernization and social welfare.
In Angola, the AFD has committed approximately EUR 180 million since 2017 to support the country’s National Development Plan 2023-2027. The agency’s strategy emphasizes sustainable urbanization, economic diversification, and governance modernization. Key areas of focus include digital governance, smart city systems, digital identity, and climate technology to address gaps in Angola’s modernization agenda.
In the Philippines, the AFD is providing EUR 200 million to support the Reducing Food Insecurity and Undernutrition with Electronic Vouchers (REFUEL) Project. Partnering with the Department of Finance and the Asian Development Bank, the initiative aims to assist roughly 750,000 low-income households. The project utilizes electronic food vouchers to provide nutritious food access, alongside support for maternal and child nutrition and livelihood opportunities.
