Agency for the Prevention of Corruption warns of election integrity risks

The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK) has issued a call to political entities to act with increased responsibility and transparency ahead of the 2027 election cycle. The agency warns that activities conducted before the formal start of an election campaign pose a significant risk to the integrity of the electoral process.

According to the agency, a regulatory gap exists because current legal frameworks do not clearly distinguish between regular political work and activities that function as pre-election campaigning. This lack of clarity is particularly risky during the period before elections are officially called, as political subjects may intensify public-facing activities before they are legally required to open special accounts for campaign financing.

Developed in cooperation with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), the agency's risk assessment highlights that these pre-campaign activities can undermine public trust and create perceptions of unequal playing fields among political participants.
