Agentic AI drives shift in global chatbot market

The chatbot market is undergoing a transition from traditional, script-based bots to agentic AI capable of interpreting intent and resolving queries autonomously. Industry data indicates the global chatbot market is projected to reach $11.8 billion by 2026 and potentially $41.2 billion by 2033.

Several companies are leading this shift with specialized autonomous agents. Tidio’s Lyro agent has achieved a 67% autonomous resolution rate by utilizing its own knowledge base to prevent hallucinations. HubSpot’s Breeze agent handles 65% of conversations automatically, while Zendesk utilizes 18 billion real interactions to train its agents. Other notable players include Gorgias, which focuses on e-commerce tasks like returns, and Zoho SalesIQ, which supports 30 languages.

Despite the technological growth, a gap exists between business perception and consumer satisfaction. While 92% of business owners believe AI improves customer experience, 62% of customers disagree. Demographic divides are also evident; for instance, 76% of baby boomers expressed discontent with AI chatbot experiences in a recent survey.
