Aggelos 2 released for multiple consoles

Aggelos 2, developed by Wonderboy Bobi and published by PQube in partnership with PixelHeart, has been released for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The action-adventure sequel transitions from the 8-bit aesthetic of the 2018 original to a 16-bit pixel art style reminiscent of late Mega Drive titles.

Gameplay features include a mechanic allowing players to switch between an angel form and a faster, more aggressive shadow form, as well as the ability to travel between two overlapping worlds via portals. New movement mechanics, such as wings for flight and a claw for rapid movement, have been added to the Metroidvania-style exploration. While the game maintains core elements like sword combat and magical projectiles, it eschews RPG experience points in favor of heart containers and resource-based upgrades.

Critical reception has been mixed. The Switch version holds a Metacritic average of 78. While some outlets praised the modernization of the Wonder Boy essence and the creative animations, others criticized the unintuitive map and a perceived lack of a distinct identity or polished final execution.
