Agiasos Chestnut Festival attracts international interest

The Chestnut Festival in Agiasos is scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 1. The event celebrates the chestnut, a product central to the agricultural tradition, economy, and identity of the Thessaly region.

The festival has gained international attention, with Turkish travel agencies offering organized tour packages to Lesvos specifically to attend the event. Available options include day trips starting at 75 euros, as well as two-night and three-night packages that include accommodation in local hotels and excursions to Mytilene, Mandamados, Petra, Molyvos, and Plomari.

Organizers aim to use the local agricultural product to drive tourism outside of the traditional summer season, combining gastronomy, cultural heritage, and regional sightseeing.
