China dominates global humanoid robot market expansion

The global humanoid robot market is experiencing rapid expansion, with shipments tripling in the first half of 2026 to reach 22,000 units. China currently dominates this sector, accounting for the majority of manufacturing and distribution. Agibot leads the market with a 43% share, followed by Unitree at 31%. Other significant Chinese players include Galbot, UBTech, and Leju Robotics.

In contrast to the sector's growth, Unitree Technology has faced significant market volatility following its IPO. The company's market value dropped by approximately 200 billion yuan within four trading days. Analysts have raised concerns regarding the company's high valuation relative to its revenue and research and development (R&D) spending, noting that its R&D investment may be as low as 8% of raised funds.

Japanese industry observers note that while China leads in volume and AI integration, Japanese companies aim to regain competitiveness by focusing on high-tech core components and specialized AI development to address labor shortages.
