Agility Robotics unveils Digit 5 humanoid for safe human collaboration

Agility Robotics has unveiled Digit 5, a new humanoid robot designed to operate safely in close proximity to human workers without the need for physical safety barriers. Unlike previous models that required plexiglass walls or separation, the Digit 5 can detect nearby people and is programmed to slow down, stop, or lower itself to the ground and shut off its motors to prevent accidents.

The robot is intended for complex industrial tasks, including sorting parts, inspecting items, and loading materials onto equipment. Agility currently operates its robots in nine customer facilities, including sites for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, GXO Logistics, and Schaeffler AG.

Despite reporting a $140 million operating loss and $1.8 million in revenue for 2025, the company stated it has approximately $300 million in multiyear orders for the Digit series. Agility also plans to expand its operations into Europe early next year and is preparing to go public through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, valuing the company at $2.5 billion.
