Agility Robotics unveils Digit 5 humanoid robot with advanced safety features

Agility Robotics has unveiled Digit 5, a new general-purpose humanoid robot designed with advanced safety features for working alongside humans in environments like warehouses. The robot utilizes proprietary AI algorithms and an Nvidia Thor IGX chip to continuously monitor for human presence through vision-based sensors.

To prevent accidents, Digit 5 can autonomously take mitigative actions, such as stopping, avoiding movement, or assuming a seated position when a person is detected nearby. The company, which already operates robot fleets for clients including Amazon and Toyota, aims to increase the commercial appeal of humanoid robots by prioritizing safe motion systems in close-proximity human-robot interactions.
