Agility Robotics unveils Digit 5 humanoid robot with fast-charging battery

Agility Robotics has unveiled Digit 5, the fifth generation of its humanoid robot designed for logistics, warehouses, and industrial environments. A primary advancement in this model is its battery system, developed in collaboration with Nyobolt, which offers a 10:1 ratio between operating time and charging time. The robot can operate for approximately 90 minutes and requires only about 9 minutes of charging.

By utilizing short charging cycles during natural operational pauses, Agility Robotics estimates the robot could achieve more than 20 hours of productive work within a 24-hour period. This is a significant improvement over the 2:1 ratio of the previous Digit 4 model.

Physically, Digit 5 stands 1.81 meters tall and weighs approximately 129 kilograms. It features a redesigned leg system using proprietary cycloidal actuators and can carry a maximum payload of 50 pounds (22.7 kilograms), a 40% increase over its predecessor. The robot is designed to navigate existing human-centric workspaces, such as aisles and doorways, without requiring facility modifications.
